Data We Collect
Account data
When you register, we collect the basic information needed to create and secure your account. This includes your email address, display name, password hash, and verification status, along with optional profile details you choose to share.

- Preferences that shape how your profile appears to other members.
Booking & payment data
When you book a session, we record the reservation so we can confirm seats, issue receipts, and support payment processing and refunds. Payment card details are handled by Stripe, while we store the identifiers and records needed to reconcile transactions. If you opt to save a card for future bookings, it is stored securely with Stripe.

Content & communications
We collect the content you share on the platform so sessions can be managed and participants can communicate.

How We Use Data
Provide the service
We use your data to run the marketplace, match players and storytellers, and keep bookings on track. This includes sending confirmations, reminders, and updates related to sessions you join or host.
- Create and manage accounts, bookings, and payouts.
- Enable messaging, Session Zero workflows, and storyteller profiles.
- Send reminder and summary emails based on your notification preferences.
Safety & compliance
We also use data to keep the platform safe, respond to support requests, and meet legal requirements that apply to payments and record-keeping.

Sharing & Processors
We share data only with service providers that help us operate the platform. These providers process data on our behalf and are used for payments, email delivery, and storage.
Stripe
Stripe processes payments and payouts. We store only the identifiers required to reconcile transactions and support refunds. Saved payment methods (if you opt in) are stored with Stripe.
Dead Star Tavern’s Email Host
Oracle SMTP is our primary email transport for transactional messages. Brevo is used as a backup delivery provider to ensure time-sensitive updates still arrive if the primary service is unavailable.
Storage
Cloudflare R2 hosts uploaded images and assets so profiles, listings, and World Builder libraries can display media reliably.
Data Retention
How long we keep data
We retain account and transaction records for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, or an account is requested for deletion, we remove or anonymize it within a reasonable time.
Your Rights & Choices
Access & updates
You can review and update most profile information in Account Profile . Email changes require verification to keep your account secure.
Notification preferences can be updated in Account Notifications , and reminder emails include an unsubscribe link for quick opt-out.
Deletion
Account deletion can be requested from Account Security . We remove your profile and stored content (including World Builder data and uploads) once deletion is confirmed, but we may keep limited records for legal, tax, or financial compliance.
International Transfers
Global access
Dead Star Tavern and its providers operate in multiple regions, which means your data may be processed or stored outside your home country. We take reasonable steps to safeguard data during these transfers.
